The positive effect is achieved with a supplemental intake of 400 µg of folic acid daily for a period of at least 1 month before and up to 3 months after conception.

The body needs the necessary building blocks for the formation and maturation of sperm. If the body does not receive these in sufficient quantities, sperm quality can be impaired. Selenium contributes to normal sperm formation and the protection of cell components from oxidative stress.

² Supplemental folic acid intake increases folate levels in pregnant women. Low folate levels in pregnant women are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus.
