Lactose intolerance is caused by a deficiency or insufficient enzyme activity of lactase. The enzyme lactase breaks down lactose (milk sugar) into its components glucose and galactose in the small intestine, because only simple sugars can be absorbed by the intestine.

In the case of lactase deficiency or insufficient lactase activity, lactose enters the large intestine and is broken down by the bacteria living there.

Milk and dairy products contain important nutrients for a healthy diet. Avoiding these products is not necessary when using Doppelherz Lactase 4,500. Lactase improves lactose digestion for people who have difficulty digesting lactose. The enzyme breaks down lactose and makes foods containing lactose more digestible.

Recommended Use:
Swallow 1-2 tablets with some liquid before or during the consumption of products containing lactose.
