The eyes are challenged every day. Working on a computer, watching television frequently, and driving at night are particularly stressful for the eyes. Dry air, lack of sleep, and nicotine also put a strain on the eye's metabolism. Various factors play an important role in the health and vision of the eyes.

This includes a good supply of nutrients such as vitamin A and the trace element zinc. Since the body cannot produce these nutrients itself, they must be consumed regularly and in sufficient quantities through food. However, with an unbalanced diet, this supply is not always optimal.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are found in plant foods (e.g., green vegetables). They are plant carotenoids that belong to the group of secondary plant substances. A particularly high amount of lutein and zeaxanthin is found in a part of the eye known as the "macula." This area is located in the center of the back of the eye.

Vitamin A and zinc contribute to the maintenance of normal vision. Vitamins C and E, as well as zinc, contribute to protecting cells from oxidative stress.
