Vitamin D

Vitamin D keeps the immune system healthy, supports the maintenance of normal bones, and promotes normal muscle function. Vitamin D is also essential for cell division, the absorption and utilization of calcium and phosphorus, and thus for maintaining normal blood calcium levels.*

The microencapsulated vitamin D3 in Vitamin D3 K2 Hevert plus Calcium and Magnesium is a form of vitamin D encapsulated in tiny capsules to enhance its stability and ensure optimal effectiveness. These capsules consist of a shell that encloses the vitamin D3 and protects it from external influences such as light, oxygen, and moisture. This allows the vitamin D3 to remain stable for longer and be better protected before being released into the body.

Vitamin K2

Vitamin K is particularly important for activating clotting factors in the blood and regulating calcium levels. It is primarily involved in the formation of osteocalcin, which is necessary for bone formation. Vitamin K, like vitamin D, contributes to bone health.*

Vitamin K2 in Vitamin D3 K2 Hevert plus Calcium and Magnesium is contained in the special form menaquinone MK-7 all-trans, which ensures optimal bioavailability. This results in excellent distribution throughout the body. The supplement is lactose- and gluten-free and also suitable for vegetarians.

Calcium and Magnesium

The minerals calcium and magnesium are stored as salts in bones, giving them strength and stability. When needed, they can also be released back into the bloodstream to perform other functions. For example, magnesium and calcium are required in energy metabolism, which provides the fuel for muscle activity.*

Staying Fit and Active into Old Age

As we age, the body's ability to build bone mass decreases, and bone density begins to decline as early as age 30. Regular exercise and sports can help counteract bone loss and support the health of bones and muscles.

Adequate intake of micronutrients such as vitamins D and K2, as well as calcium and magnesium, is crucial. Therefore, taking Vitamin D3 K2 Hevert plus Calcium and Magnesium is particularly recommended for people:

from the age of 30
with a lack of exercise or limited mobility
who have little exposure to sunlight

Are you getting enough vitamin D?

Approximately 50% of people in Germany have insufficient vitamin D levels. The body absorbs very little vitamin D through food, as few foods contain significant amounts.

Vitamin D is a vitamin that the body can produce itself. When exposed to sunlight, vitamin D is produced in the skin. Since we can only replenish our vitamin D stores through sun exposure in this country during the summer months, taking vitamin D supplements is a good way to maintain optimal vitamin D levels in the body. Spending most of our time indoors (e.g., working in an office), consciously avoiding the sun (through clothing, using sunscreen), or taking certain medications can negatively affect vitamin D levels. Furthermore, the body's ability to produce vitamin D decreases with age.

Because the skin of people with darker skin is less permeable to UV light, vitamin D production can only occur when sunlight is intense enough. In our latitudes, it is therefore difficult for people with darker skin to ensure adequate vitamin D levels solely through their own body production.

Signs of Vitamin D Deficiency

Signs of a possible vitamin D deficiency include, for example, reduced muscle strength, muscle and joint pain, a weakened immune system, and increased susceptibility to infections.

Vitamin D Depleters

Those who take medication regularly should monitor their vitamin D levels. Taking vitamin D can improve the effectiveness of some medications or reduce their side effects. Taking other medications (e.g., antacids, antiepileptics, antihistamines, Parkinson's medications, cancer drugs) results in a faster breakdown of vitamin D in the body. Therefore, it is particularly important to ensure adequate vitamin D levels when taking such medications.

Daily is Better than Weekly

Regarding the effect of vitamin D on the immune system: taking it daily is better than weekly. This is related to the so-called paracrine pathway of vitamin D, in which vitamin D is utilized directly within the cells. Depending on how vitamin D is metabolized, its metabolites support either bones and muscles or the immune system.

The endocrine effect via the bloodstream has a positive impact on calcium homeostasis and bone health. The paracrine effect, in which the vitamin is only activated within the cell tissue, primarily supports the immune system.*

Vitamin D3 supplements have a half-life of approximately 24 hours in the body. Therefore, only daily administration ensures optimal paracrine activity, while the endocrine effect is achieved with both daily and weekly doses. Thus, daily vitamin D supplementation is superior to weekly administration, as it supports a broader physiological spectrum of effects.

*Vitamin D, vitamin K, calcium, and magnesium contribute to the maintenance of normal bones. Vitamin D contributes to the normal absorption/utilization of calcium and phosphorus. Vitamin D contributes to normal blood calcium levels. Calcium and magnesium contribute to normal muscle function. Vitamin K contributes to the maintenance of normal bones. Calcium and magnesium contribute to normal energy metabolism.
