This so-called microencapsulation (Intelicaps) is a plant-based coating on the bacteria at a microscopic level. Only when the pH level in the small intestine rises does the coating dissolve, allowing the previously freeze-dried bacteria to absorb liquid, become activated, and exert their effect.

If bacterial cultures are not protected from stomach acid, a large proportion of the bacteria die before they reach the intestines. They cannot colonize the gut. The bacteria in Lactobact Baby+ are specially selected and present in a therapeutically effective concentration of 200 million units per daily dose. Normally, heat is a threat to the bacteria contained in preparations with bacterial cultures; they can die and thus no longer colonize the intestines after ingestion.
