Coenzyme Q10 belongs to the ubiquinone group. The prefix ubi means that this substance is found throughout the body. Particularly high levels of coenzyme Q10 are found in certain organs such as the heart, kidneys, liver, and muscles. Approximately 45% of Q10 is stored in the mitochondria of cells, which play a central role in human metabolism.

Coenzyme Q10 can be produced by the body itself and absorbed through food.

Animal foods are particularly rich sources. With increasing age, the body's levels of coenzyme Q10 may decrease.
